The tomatoes that have been growing up fast inside the house have been planted into the middle bed in the polytunnel. I had to tie them up using red string but I think this might damage them if a cat or a dog jumps up they could rip the plants out by the root. So I might have to make a small frame for them instead. I planted the three lettuces I am growing (and soon to be eating!) into their permanent home too, in the beds inside the polytunnel.

I planted out the Irish and Snow peas into their new permanent home, which comes complete with a frame for them to climb up which I made from bamboo and hazel poles. As there wasn't any room for the sweet pea in with the edible peas, I planted them in the bean beds. I also planted out a few of the beans that germinated and survived slug attacks into this bed. Bean seeds that I bought to replace ones that didn't survive were also sowed into this bed. I have been told that using hemp, broken eggshells, and wool are all good organic slug-proofing methods so I may have to investigate further. Maybe I foresee and experiment in the future??
During the week I bought another gooseberry bush from Scarriff from a tall at the coop. It was half the price of the one from aldi and it has flowers on it already. Good deal! I also bought a small lemonbalm plant, another to add to the hardy herbs in the garden. Im not sure what you're supposed to use lemonbalm with but I love to put a few leaves into hot water to make a lemony tea.
Lots of various flowers have started to bloom in and around the garden including more of my amsterdam tulips, the blackcurrant bushes, strawberries, damson tree, rosemary, and a few of the apple trees. Its very exciting and I have seen lots of bees and butterflies around.
